Royal Family Joins Volunteers in GMC Zhabtog Programme
Gelephu, February 24, 2026: The fourth day of the 5th Zhabtog Volunteer Programme for Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) witnessed the gracious presence of Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, Jetsun Pema, Their Majesties the Gyalyums, and Members of the Royal Family.
Their Majesties joined volunteers in sowing grass and carrying out development work across a 10.6-acre area near the upcoming Gelephu International Airport site. The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to prepare and beautify key zones under the Gelephu Mindfulness City project.
Volunteers worked alongside the Royal Family with great enthusiasm, reflecting the collective spirit behind the GMC vision. The Zhabtog Programme continues to see strong public participation, reinforcing a shared commitment toward sustainable and mindful development in Gelephu.
Later in the day, Their Majesties and Members of the Royal Family visited Gelephu town and toured the ChoeGo GMC building, interacting with officials and observing progress on various initiatives connected to the project.
The presence of the Royal Family further uplifted volunteers and residents, marking another significant day in the ongoing transformation of Gelephu under the GMC initiative.
