Fire Damages Seized Vehicles at Naxalbari Police Station
Witnesses said smoke was seen rising from the rear portion of the compound, reportedly from an unused section. The fire spread quickly and reached an area where seized motorcycles had been kept, setting several of them ablaze.
Police officials, along with local residents, immediately began efforts to control the flames before the arrival of the fire brigade. A fire tender later reached the location and, after sustained efforts, succeeded in extinguishing the blaze.
A number of impounded motorcycles were destroyed in the fire. No injuries were reported. The police station is located between a school and a hospital, but prompt action ensured the flames did not spread beyond the affected area.
Authorities have launched an inquiry to find out what triggered the fire.
