SBI ATM Loot Attempt Foiled in Kaliaganj; Three Arrested Within 12 Hours
An attempted robbery at a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM under Kaliaganj Police Station was foiled in the early hours of 9 December 2025, due to the alert and timely action of on-duty police personnel.
The incident took place around 3:30 am, when a group of miscreants tried to break into the ATM. However, sensing police presence, the accused fled the scene without succeeding in their attempt.
Following the incident, the Raiganj Police District acted swiftly by registering a case at Kaliaganj Police Station and launching an investigation using a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence.
Within just 12 hours, police identified and traced the accused. In coordinated operations, two suspects were arrested from Kushinagar district in Uttar Pradesh, while one was apprehended from Dakshin Dinajpur district. Materials linked to the attempted robbery were also recovered from their possession.
Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify other associates and uncover additional links related to the case. The swift breakthrough underscores the efficiency and preparedness of the police in ensuring public safety and preventing crime.
