Two Pelsung Projects Win Top Honours at DrukDen Startup Competition

Two standout teams from the Pelsung cohort have been awarded top recognition at the DrukDen Startup Competition, securing $2,000 each in support of their innovative ideas following the final pitch round.
Out of five Pelsung-led projects that participated in the competition, Project Yoering-Ma and Project Gyensum Learning Hub emerged as the most promising.
Project Yoering-Ma, presented by Pelsup Sailesh and Pelsup Pema Uden from Cohort 1, focuses on sustainable waste management by converting biodegradable waste into high-quality vermicompost using earthworm-based composting systems. The initiative aims to promote eco-friendly practices while addressing organic waste challenges.
Project Gyensum Learning Hub, presented by Pelsup Seema Chhetri from Cohort 2, proposes the establishment of a fully inclusive, purpose-built early childhood education centre in Gelephu Mindfulness City. The project is designed to provide accessible and holistic learning opportunities for young children.
The $2,000 award recognises the teams’ outstanding performance during the pitch round. Meanwhile, discussions with potential investors and partners are ongoing for all participating projects, opening further opportunities for growth and implementation.
The competition highlighted the creativity and commitment of young innovators, with all participating teams delivering impactful and forward-thinking ideas.
