Woman Arrested with Brown Sugar in Jaigaon Anti-Drug Operation
Jaigaon, April 13: In a significant anti-drug operation, Jaigaon Police arrested a woman and seized 27 grams of brown sugar during a targeted operation on Tuesday.
Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Crime Team of Jaigaon Police received information that a woman was transporting brown sugar towards Jaigaon in an auto-rickshaw. Based on this intelligence, a team led by Sub-Inspector Mehebub Habib, along with Female police personnel, laid a trap in the Manglabari area around noon.
The suspect was identified and intercepted upon arrival. Following questioning and a search, police recovered 27 grams of brown sugar from her possession. The accused has been identified as Sabina Khatun, a resident of Triveni Toll, Jaigaon.
Officer-in-Charge Nayan Das stated that the arrest and seizure were carried out in the presence of an Executive Magistrate, following due legal procedures. A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act.
Police are currently interrogating the accused to determine the source and intended destination of the наркотic substance.
Reaffirming their commitment to building a drug-free society, Jaigaon Police stated that anti-drug operations will continue in the coming days. Authorities have also urged residents to report any suspicious activities to help curb the spread of narcotics in the region.
