Jalpaiguri, Tuesday Night: In a tragic road accident on Tuesday night, Lutfar Rahman, a district leader of the Trinamool Congress Minority Cell, lost his life on National Highway 31 near Goshala More in Jalpaiguri.

Lutfar Rahman was serving as the President of the Minority Cell of Jalpaiguri Sadar Block II. According to reports, the accident occurred while he was returning home on his motorcycle after picking up his daughter from tuition classes. A speeding truck or container vehicle allegedly rammed into their bike from behind.

Eyewitnesses claimed that the heavy vehicle dragged the motorcycle for some distance, leading to Rahman’s death on the spot. His daughter sustained serious injuries and has been admitted to Jalpaiguri Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital, where she is currently undergoing treatment.

Following the incident, angry locals blocked the national highway and reportedly vandalized a police vehicle. A large police force has been deployed in the area to control the situation and restore normalcy.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.
