Jaigaon Police Station Seize 80 Bottles of Banned Cough Syrup, Two Held

In a swift operation on 17.02.2026 at around 2:05 PM, a team from Jaigaon Police Station intercepted a motorcycle at Dalsingpara near Ganesh Vidyalaya Nepali School following specific intelligence input.
During the operation, two suspects — Abhinas Munda and Rinchen Lama, both residents of Rangmati under PS Kalchini — were detained. Upon search, police recovered and seized 80 bottles (100 ml each) of Codeine Phosphate and Triprolidine Hydrochloride cough syrup, suspected to be illegally transported.
The entire search and seizure process was carried out in the presence of Executive Magistrate Shri Mithun Majumder, BDO Kalchini, ensuring full compliance with legal procedures.
Both accused will be produced before the Ld. Court tomorrow, and police will seek remand for further investigation.
The timely action reflects Jaigaon Police’s continued vigilance against the illegal transportation and misuse of narcotic substances in the region.
