Sangita Monger has firmly established herself as a key pillar of the Bhutan Women’s National Football Team, earning recognition as the team’s trusted “wall” between the posts. With 20 international caps, she has become a symbol of determination, focus, and resilience in Bhutanese football.

Hailing from Samtenling in Sarpang, Sangita began her football journey at the age of 13 during her school years. Initially playing as a defender and occasionally as a striker, her transition to goalkeeping came during school tournaments, where her natural ability quickly stood out and defined her future role.

Her consistent dedication led her to Ugyen Academy, where she spent five years developing her skills. Strong performances at the academy level brought her into the spotlight, earning her a place with Transport United Ladies. She went on to deliver standout performances at the SAFF Women’s Club Championship, gaining regional recognition as one of the top goalkeepers. Ad1

Adding another milestone to her career, Sangita was recently selected for Bhutan’s National Women’s Futsal Team and will represent the country at its first-ever women’s futsal tournament in Bangkok, Thailand. The selection highlights her versatility and athletic excellence across formats of the game.

Despite her growing success, Sangita remains grounded, emphasizing teamwork and unity as her greatest strength. From humble beginnings in Samtenling to representing Bhutan on multiple international stages, Sangita Monger continues to inspire young footballers and strengthen the future of women’s football in Bhutan.
