Forest Fire Reported at Sangaygang, Thimphu; Brought Under Control
Thimphu: A forest fire was reported at Sangaygang in Thimphu earlier today, prompting swift response from the Fire and Rescue Service.
According to sources, the fire is believed to have originated after a family stopped at the area for a picnic. It is alleged that a minor, who had gone to relieve himself nearby, set used tissue paper on fire, which subsequently spread to the surrounding vegetation. Firefighters responded promptly and managed to bring the blaze under control. As of the latest update, mopping-up operations are ongoing to prevent any possible re-ignition.
The fire reportedly started above Khuru Bachu, at the base of Sangaygang. No casualties or major property damage have been reported so far.
Authorities have once again urged the public to exercise caution while visiting forested and picnic areas, especially during dry conditions, to prevent such incidents.
