RMA Wins “Best New Banknote Series” Award at High Security Printing Asia 2025
The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan (RMA) has been honoured with the prestigious “Best New Banknote Series” award at the High Security Printing Asia 2025 conference, held last week in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
RMA received the award jointly with the Bank of Japan for its newly introduced Nu 100, Nu 500, and Nu 1,000 banknotes. A total of 51 countries from the Asia-Pacific region competed for this recognition, making the achievement a significant milestone for Bhutan’s financial sector.
The award-winning banknote series was designed and printed by De La Rue, a renowned British security printing company known for its global expertise in high-security currency production.
Set to enter circulation from January next year, the new notes incorporate advanced security features to strengthen protection against counterfeiting. Printed on recyclable polymer substrate, the series also enhances durability and supports environmentally sustainable currency production.
The recognition marks a proud moment for Bhutan, showcasing the nation’s progress in adopting modern, secure, and sustainable currency technology.
