Drukair to Launch New International Flight Connecting Gelephu and Kolkata
Drukair is set to introduce a new international air service linking Gelephu in southern Bhutan with Kolkata, one of India’s major metropolitan cities. The direct route aims to enhance regional connectivity and strengthen Gelephu’s position as a growing hub for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange.
According to Drukair, the new service is expected to attract more visitors to southern Bhutan while providing residents with improved travel options. One-way fares will range from Nu 5,500 to Nu 35,000, depending on seat category and availability.
The inaugural flight is scheduled for Monday, marking a significant step in expanding international access to Gelephu and supporting the government’s broader vision for the region’s development.
