Bangladeshi Smuggler Caught with Gold Worth ₹3 Crore on Nadia Border

The Border Security Force (BSF), South Bengal Frontier, thwarted a major gold smuggling attempt along the India–Bangladesh border in Nadia district, arresting a Bangladeshi smuggler and seizing gold valued at over ₹3 crore.

Acting on intelligence inputs, troops of the 32nd Battalion set up an ambush near the Tungi Border Outpost on Tuesday evening. Two suspects were spotted crossing a lake while hiding under water hyacinths. One was caught, while the other escaped in the dark.

A search of the arrested smuggler led to the recovery of 20 gold biscuits, weighing 2,354.73 grams and valued at ₹3,05,99,716. The smuggler has been taken into custody for further interrogation, and a search operation is underway to locate his accomplice.

The BSF has intensified vigilance to counter increasing gold smuggling attempts along the border.
