Two Arrested in Birpara for Illegal Smuggling of Bhutanese Liquor
Birpara, 17 Nov 2025: Police arrested two individuals in Birpara for allegedly smuggling Bhutanese liquor illegally. Acting on a tip-off, police received information that a Max vehicle was transporting Bhutanese liquor through the area. Based on the intelligence input, officers intercepted the vehicle at Birpara Collegepara and conducted a search.
During the inspection, police recovered 55 cartons of Bhutanese liquor, valued at approximately ₹50,000. The two accused—Abalal Saha and Nur Alam, both residents of the Nagrakata area—were immediately taken into custody by Birpara Police.
A case has been registered against the accused, and they have been produced before the court with a prayer for police remand. Police have also launched an investigation to identify others involved in the smuggling network.
