Two Arrested with Large Quantity of Narcotic Capsules in Jaigaon
Jaigaon, April 1 — Amid ongoing election-related duties, Jaigaon Police continued its anti-drug operations and achieved a major success on Tuesday night by arresting two individuals with a significant quantity of narcotic capsules.
According to Officer-in-Charge Nayan Das of Jaigaon Police Station, the Anti-Crime Team acted on specific intelligence and conducted an operation in the Super Market area under Jaigaon jurisdiction. The suspects were intercepted near a potato warehouse while riding a scooter. Upon search, police recovered a large quantity of suspected narcotic capsules from their possession.
The accused have been identified as Purna Darji and Rohit Darji. The seized capsules were confiscated in the presence of a magistrate, following due legal procedures.
A case has been registered against the duo under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. Police informed that the accused will be produced before a court in Alipurduar on Wednesday, with a request for police custody.
Officials stated that further interrogation will be carried out to determine the source of the drugs, intended destination, and possible links to other individuals involved in the network.
OC Nayan Das reiterated that the police will continue sustained anti-drug operations until Jaigaon becomes a drug-free town.
