Police Crack Down on Drug Trade Amid Election Preparations, One Arrested with 87 Grams of Brown Sugar
Jaigaon: Despite being engaged in election-related preparations, police continue to intensify their anti-drug campaign, achieving another major success under the “Nasha Mukt Abhiyan.”
Acting on a tip-off, the Anti-Crime Team of Jaigaon Police Station conducted a late-night raid in the Chhota Mechiya Basti area on Tuesday around 10:00 PM. During the operation, one person identified as Saddam Hussain was caught red-handed with illegal narcotics.
According to police sources, approximately 87 grams of brown sugar were recovered from the accused, with an estimated market value running into thousands of rupees.
Following the arrest, all legal procedures were duly carried out in the presence of a magistrate. The seized narcotics were documented and photographed as per legal norms.
A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of law, and further investigation is currently underway. Police officials have described the operation as a significant step forward in the ongoing anti-drug campaign.
