Gautam Adani Joins Gelephu Mindfulness City as Founding Member; Bhutan–Adani Hydropower Partnership Deepens

Thimphu, January 3, 2026:
Mr. Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, has joined Gelephu Mindfulness City as a Founding Member, marking a significant step in Bhutan’s vision for sustainable and mindful development.
With over three decades of experience in building, financing, and operating large-scale infrastructure, Mr. Adani has led major investments across sectors such as energy, ports, logistics, and transportation. His leadership in renewable energy and sustainable infrastructure aligns closely with Bhutan’s long-standing commitment to environmental stewardship and climate responsibility.
The announcement further strengthens the growing partnership between Bhutan and the Adani Group. A key pillar of this collaboration is the landmark agreement with Druk Green Power Corporation (DGPC) to jointly develop 5,000 MW of hydropower capacity in Bhutan.
On the same day, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between Druk Green Power Corporation Limited and Adani Power Limited at the Kuenrey of Tashichhodzong, formalizing the next phase of cooperation in the hydropower sector.
In the presence of His Majesty The King, Prime Minister Dasho Tshering Tobgay and Mr. Gautam Adani jointly laid the foundation stone for the 570 MW Wangchhu Hydropower Project. The project is expected to play a vital role in strengthening Bhutan’s clean energy capacity while contributing to regional energy security.
The developments reflect Bhutan’s continued efforts to attract responsible global partners who share its values of sustainability, long-term growth, and mindful development.
