Robbery Attempt Thwarted in Singur; Four Bihar Residents Arrested with Weapons
Singur, West Bengal — Acting swiftly on a tip-off, the Singur Police successfully foiled a planned robbery and detained four individuals found in possession of illegal firearms and sharp weapons. All the arrested men hail from Bihar’s Nawada district.
Police officials said that on Sunday night, SI Deepak Kanti Dutta, the night RT officer of Singur Police Station, was patrolling the Nasibpur petrol pump area with his team when they spotted a Maruti Omni van moving suspiciously. The police stopped the vehicle and carried out a search, during which they seized two country-made pipe guns, two live rounds, and an iron bhojali.

During initial questioning, the suspects reportedly admitted that they had gathered in the locality to execute a robbery. They also informed the police about a fifth member of their group, Upendra Yadav, who managed to flee during the police’s intervention. He, too, belongs to Nawada district.
A case has been lodged against the four under multiple sections, including the Arms Act, at Singur Police Station. They are scheduled to be presented before the Chandannagar ACJM Court on Monday, where the police will request a seven-day custodial remand to trace the absconding accused and uncover others linked to the gang.
