Indian Army Launches Bailey Bridge to Restore Connectivity in Sri Lanka’s Jaffna Region
Jaffna | As part of ongoing restoration efforts following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah, the Indian Army’s Engineer Task Force has commenced the launch of a critical 120-foot Dual Carriageway Bailey Bridge to restore vital road connectivity in Sri Lanka’s Jaffna region. Click here
Prior to the bridge launch, the damaged structure was dismantled and cleared, followed by the construction of robust pile foundations on both river banks to enhance load-bearing capacity and ensure structural stability.
Once operational, the bridge will re-establish the crucial link between the towns of Paranthan and Mullaitivu, significantly improving mobility, facilitating relief operations, and supporting the movement of essential services in the affected areas.
The initiative underscores the Indian Army’s commitment to humanitarian assistance and disaster relief, reinforcing regional cooperation and support during times of crisis.
