His Majesty The King Interacts with Pelsung Cohorts and Reviews Key National Projects in Gelephu
Gelephu, 4 December 2025: His Majesty The King is currently in Gelephu, where over the last two days His Majesty has granted a series of important Audiences to the first and second cohorts of Pelsups, as well as teams working under the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) initiative.
Earlier today, His Majesty met with the first cohort of Pelsups, who are now in the second phase of the three-month Pelsung Programme. After completing their DeSuung Training in November, these young participants have moved into the innovation and GMC immersion phase. Their training is scheduled to conclude on 31 December 2025.
His Majesty also visited Sarpang Dzong and inspected ongoing progress at the Gelephu International Airport construction site, a major component of the GMC vision.
On 3 December, His Majesty granted an Audience to the second cohort of 350 Pelsups, who are currently undergoing the DeSuung Training — the first phase of the Pelsung Programme. Their Passing Out Parade is set for 5 December. His Majesty also interacted with the various GMC teams working across multiple components of the transformative national project.
The Pelsung Programme, a flagship youth initiative under GMC, aims to nurture a disciplined, capable, and future-ready generation. His Majesty has repeatedly emphasized that Pelsung is designed to empower Bhutanese youth, build unity and harmony, and ensure that Bhutanese citizens become the custodians of the country’s long-term vision.
In a nation with a small population, His Majesty has said, “every individual matters.” The Pelsung Programme seeks to equip young Bhutanese with the skills, mindset, and sense of responsibility needed to lead Bhutan confidently into the future.
