JDNP Conducts Training on Post-Forest Fire Damage Assessment
The session was facilitated by Mr. Tandin Dorji and Mr. Pema, and coordinated by the Forest Monitoring and Information Section. Three staff members from each Range Office attended the training, and will in turn train additional colleagues upon returning to their stations.
The program covered both theoretical and practical components. On the first day, participants engaged in GIS-based desktop exercises, including forest fire boundary delineation, layout of sample plots, and hands-on practice using the EpiCollect data collection form. The second day was dedicated to on-site assessment in fire-affected areas, followed by group presentations and discussions on challenges and key observations.
The Park Management expressed gratitude to the Department of Forests and Park Services and UNDP for their continued support and generous funding, which made the training possible.
