Nagrakata, October 9 — Extensive relief and restoration efforts are underway in Nagrakata Block following the devastating floods that struck on October 4, severely impacting areas including Bamandanga and resulting in tragic loss of lives.
The district administration, in coordination with various departments, has been closely monitoring the situation to ensure timely assistance to affected residents. Essential supplies such as drinking water, dry food, DM kits, blankets, garments, and tarpaulins are being distributed across affected villages. Gruel kitchens have also been set up to provide cooked meals to displaced families.
Restoration of essential services is being carried out on priority, with teams working to re-erect damaged electricity poles and repair critical infrastructure. Health camps have been organised in the affected areas to prevent disease outbreaks and ensure medical aid. In a coordinated rescue operation, seven pregnant women were safely evacuated using boats and stretchers and shifted to the block hospital for necessary care.
Senior officials including the Honourable District Magistrate, Superintendent of Police, ADM (G), and SDO Mal visited the flood-hit areas to review relief measures and interact with residents.
All teams comprising government officials, elected representatives, and local volunteers — continue to work tirelessly to provide sustained relief and facilitate recovery for the affected families.
