Drugs Worth Over ₹2 Crore Seized on NH-37, Two Held
Acting on specific intelligence from a confidential source about the illegal transportation of narcotics, a naka checkpoint was set up along the highway. During the operation, a Mahindra Bolero carrying two individuals was stopped and thoroughly searched.
The search led to the recovery of 1.065 kg of suspected morphine, locally known as “crude,” along with 22 grams of suspected heroin concealed inside two soap cases. Police also seized the vehicle (registration number MZ05A 8164) and two mobile phones from the suspects.
Preliminary field testing confirmed the presence of both heroin and morphine. Authorities estimate the total market value of the seized contraband to be more than ₹2 crore.
The two People have been taken into custody, and legal proceedings have been initiated. Further investigation is underway to trace the source and network involved in the trafficking operation.
