His Majesty Inspects Site for 108 Jangchub Chorten Project in Gelephu
On March 24, 2026, His Majesty The King visited Gelephu Mindfulness City to review the proposed site for the construction of 108 Jangchub Chorten, a major initiative announced during the launch of the 5th Zhabtog voluntary programme last month.
His Majesty was accompanied by His Royal Highness The Gyalsey and officials from GMC during an inaugural walk along the 11-kilometre stretch identified for the project. Each of the 108 chortens is planned to stand at a height of 15 metres, with the ambitious goal of completing all structures within a single day.
The initiative was first announced on February 21 during the groundbreaking ceremony of the Gelephu Chorten at Chuzergang. Emphasising the significance of the project, His Majesty highlighted the need for unity, determination, and collective effort to achieve what may seem like an extraordinary goal.
During the visit to Gelephu, His Majesty also granted an audience to the third cohort of the Pelsung programme currently undergoing training.
