Major Excise Raid in Dalsingpara: Fake Bhutan Liquor Worth ₹38.47 Lakh Seized, Two Arrested
In a late-night operation on February 21, 2026, the Excise Department carried out a major crackdown on illegal liquor storage at Dalsingpara, Gairikhas under Ran Bahadur Busty area in Alipurduar district.
Around 10:00 pm, the Superintendent of Excise, Alipurduar, received specific intelligence about a stockpile of suspected fake Bhutan liquor being stored in the locality. Acting swiftly, a joint team was formed comprising officials from Jaigaon Excise Station, Alipurduar Sadar Circle, RPU, Kalchini Circle and Birpara Circle. The operation was conducted under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Excise.
During a detailed search of multiple houses in the area, the team identified one premises that matched the description provided by the informer. From the house, officers recovered 171 cartons of “Black Mountain Whisky,” suspected to be counterfeit. Each carton contained 12 bottles of 750 ml, amounting to a total of 1,539 litres of liquor.
The estimated market value of the seized consignment is ₹38,47,500.
Two individuals were arrested on the spot. During questioning, they reportedly stated that the liquor belonged to a resident of Hasimara under Jaigaon Police Station in Alipurduar district.
All seized items have been taken into Excise custody. Officials confirmed that the entire search and seizure process was conducted strictly as per legal procedures and was recorded through audio and video documentation.
Both accused were produced before the court and have been remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend other members linked to the illegal liquor network.
Authorities also stated that multiple cases have been initiated against the house or land owner. After verification with Panchayat authorities, the Land Department and Electricity Board, appropriate legal action will be taken under the provisions of the B.E. Act, 1909, as amended.
