What begins as a passion for sport can often evolve into a lifelong purpose, a journey clearly reflected in the story of Sonam Youden. A recipient of the Bhutan Olympic Committee–Royal University of Bhutan (BOC–RUB) Scholarship, Sonam successfully balanced her commitment to table tennis with her academic pursuit of a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.Throughout her years as a student-athlete, Sonam demonstrated discipline, determination, and resilience, managing the demanding schedules of competitive sport alongside rigorous academic training. Her journey highlights how structured support systems such as the BOC–RUB Scholarship help young athletes pursue excellence both on the field and in their professional lives.
Beyond easing financial challenges, the scholarship played a key role in shaping Sonam’s values, instilling a strong sense of responsibility, perseverance, and a desire to give back to society. These qualities continue to guide her path as she transitions from competitive sport into her professional career.
