Samdrup Jongkhar, Bhutan — A tragic incident claimed the lives of two men, aged 27 and 31, after they drowned in Nyera Ama Chhu in Samdrup Jongkhar yesterday.
Sources revealed that the men were part of a group that had gone for a picnic along the riverbank. At some point, the two reportedly moved away from the main picnic area and entered the river to swim. The accident occurred around midday, when they were caught by the river’s strong current. The bodies were later recovered from downstream locations and handed over to their families for funeral rites.
Authorities have reiterated their appeal to the public to remain vigilant near rivers and water bodies, particularly during recreational outings, and to refrain from swimming in fast-flowing or unfamiliar waters to prevent such tragedies. Support us
