Five-Day Training on Women’s Leadership in Conservation Begins in Punakha
A five-day capacity-building program titled “Women’s Leadership and Empowerment in Conservation and Sustainable Nature-Based Enterprise Development” commenced today in Punakha. The training is jointly organized by the Department of Forests and Park Services (DoFPS) and Innovate Bhutan: YDF Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, with support from WWF-Bhutan under the IKI Living Landscape Project.
The program aims to strengthen leadership confidence, enhance gender awareness, improve communication skills, and build innovation capacity among women professionals engaged in conservation, climate resilience, and community development.
By the conclusion of the training, participants are expected to gain improved gender-responsive planning skills, sharpen their communication and influence capabilities, develop practical ideas for field implementation, and prepare gender-inclusive conservation action plans.
A total of 26 participants are attending the training, including 15 from DoFPS, four from the Tarayana Foundation, and seven from WWF-Bhutan.
A similar training program will also be held for women in communities where the IKI Living Landscape Project is being implemented, further extending support for women’s leadership in conservation across Bhutan. visit here
