Former Union Minister John Barla Remarries Seven Months After Wife’s Death
Former Union Minister and ex-BJP MP from Alipurduar, John Barla, has remarried seven months after the passing of his first wife, Mahima Barla, who died in April this year due to a kidney ailment.
Barla, once a prominent BJP leader in North Bengal, had begun distancing himself from the party ahead of the Lok Sabha elections. On May 15, he formally joined the Trinamool Congress. Since then, he had largely remained away from active politics.
According to sources, Barla tied the knot on November 11 with Manju Tirkey, a schoolteacher at St. Maria Goretti Girls’ High School in Dimdima. She is a resident of the Dalmoney Division of the Dalgon Tea Garden.
No social ceremony has been held yet following the marriage, sources added.
