Driver Lost Life, Four Injured in Sarpang Road Accident
Sarpang, June 17: A 29-year-old man lost his life in a tragic road accident at Jigmecholing Gewog in Sarpang last night after the Bolero vehicle he was driving veered off the road and plunged more than 100 metres down a slope near Serkim.
According to police, the accident occurred while the driver was returning from Boxcut with three Indian labourers, 15 bags of cement, and a friend on board. The driver died at the scene of the accident.
The four other occupants sustained injuries and were rushed to the Gelephu Central Regional Referral Hospital for treatment. Hospital officials confirmed that all four are currently in stable condition.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a steep bend. Police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution, particularly on mountainous roads and sharp bends, to prevent similar incidents.
